And what a bang it was!
Let me set the scene…….
5.55pm Thursday 15th October 2020, just about to pack away my things at work after another busy day in the HR office. My phone rings…….my husband calling, very strange as usually never rings me at work, not at this time as I’m home in 10 minutes. A real joker my husband, so when he asked what time I’d be home I laughed and joked “you don’t have enough time to leave me, I’ll be home in 10 minutes”. Not much of a response which was unusual, other than “OK I’ll see you when you get home”. The girls in the office laughed at my remark, I threw my coat on and left the office, ready for another day tomorrow!
For those who knew my husband he was always beaming from ear to ear, happy and very positive, just how he’d been that morning when he left for work.
I opened the door, joking that he was still there on my return……I was met with a very serious and sad face.
“Sit down I have something to tell you”……I could tell whatever the news it was serious! The thoughts of who’s poorly, who’s died, had he lost his job rushed through my head, trying to look for a clue but none there.
“I’ve been to the doctors and I’ve got terminal cancer”. He’d said it! I just sat in silence for what seemed a lifetime. “How do you know that?”
“A visit to the doctors last night, you were at work. I was sent straight up to the hospital for investigation and the doctor rang me today, asking me to go down to the surgery. I tried to ring you but couldn’t get a response as he asked if I could bring someone with me.”
I was totally at a loss for words…..is this a mistake….they could be wrong, how could they diagnose in such a short space of time, they must be wrong…..my husband was extremley fit and healthy, cycled 100’s of miles a week, didnt drink, didnt smoke and ate healthy….no way did he have cancer.
The doctor was very confident this was the case just further tests to identify which cancer…….
This is when my life went bang!

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.
Why do this?
The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.
To help you get started, here are a few questions:
You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.
Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.
When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
